Frequently asked Questions

Question, Do I really need a guide? Answer - This is a good question, and it depends on what your looking for. For the person or family that has never been to the area before and really wants to catch some fish, getting a guide would be a good idea, as a guide will have the equipment you need and knowledge of the area. A guide will know the regulations, such as size and possession limits, what you can or can’t use for bait, etc. He will also have the ability to move around to different places if the fish aren’t biting. On the other hand, if your a person or family who likes to fish and really don’t care if you catch fish and just want to have a good time, then a guide probably isn’t needed. Question, I’ve decided I want to book a trip, now what? Answer - Either give me a call 608-963-9059 or contact me via email at knittguideservice@yahoo.com to see if the date and time is available. If it is, we will make arrangements for me to recieve your deposit, a $50 deposit is required on all trips booked more than two weeks in advance. We will also discuss a meeting point. Question, What do your prices include? Answer - All equipment, bait, tackle, boat. Everything you need for fishing except your fishing license. Of corse you may use your own fishing tackle, if you choose. Question, Do I need a fishing license? Question, Can I keep the fish I catch? Answer - I like to eat fish more than anybody, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with keeping a couple meals as long as the fish are within the legal size and daily bag limits. Question, Will you clean my fish? Answer - With prior arrangements and for a small fee, yes, I will assist you in cleaning your catch. Fish cleaning is included in the trout fishing trip. Question, What do I need to bring? Answer - Your fishing license and if trout fishing, your trout stamp, cloths for the weather, camera, cooler, ice for your catch, lunch, drinks as desired, and a positive attitude. January and February is an excellent time to catch walleyes on the Wisconsin river. Question, Am I guarenteed to catch fish? Answer - I would love to say yes, but unfortunately the only guarantee I can give you is, I will put you on fish. You will definitely, at the very least, have an oppertunity to catch fish. Question, I sent my deposit and the day we are supposed to go, it’s raining, what do we do? Answer - I can’t control mother nature, so anything short of a major downpour, lightning, or high winds we’ll be fishing. If you absolutely do not want to fish in the rain. I will do my best to wait it out so you get your trip in, or give you an opportunity to reschedule. Question, Do you guide for hunting?
